- Specialist Skills Pathway: High-income professionals (more than AUD 141,210) in specialised occupations, not including trades, labourers and machinery operators.
- Essential Skills Pathway: Essential workers in high-priority sectors such as healthcare and teaching, earning less than AUD 76,515, and receive additional protections against exploitation.
The SID Visa provides up to four year stays and is an easier way to gain permanent residency. Employees are also more flexible as they can now accrue time with other employers towards the two year requirement of the Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186) Visa.
Updated Income Thresholds
The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) was raised by 4.6 per cent to AUD 76, 515, effective July 1, 2025, in line with the increasing cost of living in Australia. Employers should reach this amount or the Annual Market Salary Rate (AMSR) whichever is greater and then they are able to sponsor workers.
